Dear Customers, Car Lovers and Ride-day Devotees,
If you sent an email to anyone on the list you have really helped by telling them about your support for Lakeside and its place in Grass Roots recreational motor sport.
We would like you to know just how many people share your passion as well as what a huge asset Lakeside is for so many people in SEQ. If you can just spare a bit more of your time – again – we’d like you know just how important Lakeside is to businesses, Jobs and best of all charities! You will be surprised far the “Grass Roots” go.
I wish to thank Scott Waters, CEO of the MBRC, for commissioning the independent assessment of the value to the community(s) through the “Lakeside Park Motorsport Precinct Socio-Economic Impact Statement”. This is a detailed document that is in the public domain so we can organize an electronic copy of it to be sent to you if you have about ½ an hour to spare.
Very briefly, Lakeside contributes to:
· 419 jobs; 360 in the Moreton Bay Region
· $84.4M in business revenues; $64.2M in the Moreton Bay region
· $29.2M in wages; $23.5M in the Moreton Bay Region
What the report does not show is how we donate our profits to charities and provide free support for other charity events. Some notable ones we are very proud of, and we would like you to know more about are:
· Medicin sans Frontieres (to assist in Gaza) - $200,000
· Blue Hope, supporting families of police officers who died in the line of duty - $128,000
· Fred Hollows for River Blindness in Africa and UV damage in Nepal, $50,000+
· Club Charity events e.g. BMW Club raised $30,000 & the Wanderers raised $13,000 for Beyond Blue
Lakeside also supports cycling events; all of which have some charity component:
· Anzac Remembrance Day Tribute Race (~600 participants from around Australia)
· Practice days for the Paralympic cyclist teams for the Tokyo and Paris Olympics
· In 2025, a round of the ProVelo (Professional Cycle racing) National Championship.*
· Early morning training for the Hamilton Pine Wheelers
*ProVelo racers are in training and vying for positions in Tour de France, Giro de Italia and the like.
Lakeside also provides facilities for industry and, as an example, has been praised in a recent press release from a Brendale company wherein Lakeside is playing a key role in the development of the Ford Lightning; the electric version of the Ford F150, for Australia. This is just the latest in a string of these activities and benefits for businesses in the region.
With regard to noise, we are doing a “best effort” to comply with the noise issues raised in Scott Waters’ letter of October 15th. After having our lawyers combing through the lease in fine detail we think we have a strategy that will overcome those issues. You have my word that, if we can, we will look to update the calendar with more events. We recognise it is too late for most of the racers to participate in a two day race meeting this year but if there is an opportunity to do it we will come back to the category managers ASAP.
In 2025 we are looking forward to our 12th “fatality free” year in a row. That on its own would be a record for Lakeside and race tracks generally, but considering the amount and variety of usage Lakeside has, that is a best in class result for Australia. In 2024 Lakeside was home to over 400 events between the DTC and the main track! That’s pretty good for the old girl don’t you reckon?
If you have any comments or questions, please send them to admin@LakesidePark.com.au and will endeavour to answer as many as we can.
We really appreciate your support, it is vital to ensuring Lakeside is “Still Making Memories” for a long time to come.
Sincerely,
John Tetley
